Since we know we are clearing your property specifically for building a new home, we will take the dimensions from your blueprints first. Then, we meet with you to walk your property and mark off the area that you want your foundation built. We typically make sure the ground is high enough for new home construction, talk about where you want roadways, driveways, parking areas, etc. We also make sure we understand fully what trees you want to be removed and what trees you would like to stay. It’s possible you will not want to clear all the vegetation on a wooded lot: perhaps you will want to leave some of it for a possible yard or wooded barrier.
Once a complete understanding has been reached between JSR Land Clearing and you (our client), we began our work! Assuming you have pulled permits needed and had the land surveyed.
Biggest Trees and/or Obstacles Removed First
Rocks or boulders are among the hardest obstacles to move because they are typically very heavy, big, and awkward to move. Removing boulders may take several people because large rocks are often bigger than they look. Grab a shovel and dig around them to discover if any portion of the boulder is hidden underground. Then, depending on the size, get some help to remove by hand, or our excavator may be of assistance.
Removing trees, both living and dead or fallen, would be next. We typically take the bulldozer to push over the trees you want to be removed. This takes a lot of time and meticulous movement because we do not want to remove trees that you want to keep, and we have to make sure our machine operators are safely doing their job. This technique involves pushing over large brush and trees (just as it sounds). The holes that remain are then taken care of by the bulldozer.
Clear Underbrush and Debris
This is where we take the bulldozer and/or skid steer and clear the property where trees have fallen, overgrown weeds are growing, underbrush, etc. We make sure your property is level and “aesthetic” looking when doing this part of land clearing. We take all the trees, limbs, underbrush, and debris and pile them into huge piles. Here is where we either burn these piles, given it is permitted. We always pull burning permits before-hand to make sure the weather conditions are optimal. If burning is not an option, then we load these piles into dump trucks and haul off the debris. This method is a bit more expensive because it involves a lot more labor and equipment.
